S2, Ep 103: Brown Girl Like Me
Thursday Feb 10, 2022
Thursday Feb 10, 2022
Why did we start wearing bindis to clubs only when Madonna declared it was cool? Why do we find it so difficult to speak to our families about mental health struggles? What is it about our cultural background that make us so strong yet soft? (and that's not a bad thing!).....in this episode my guest Jaspreet Kaur and I discuss all this and more from a brown girls point of view.
Jaspreet, also known as Behind The Netra, is a spoken word artist and educator. Her book 'Brown Girl Like Me' is out this month and covers issues ranging from culture, confidence, menstruation stigma and microaggressions. She talks to me about what made her write it and the wonderful women who were part of her journey.

S2, Ep 101: Anxiety?...Don’t Panic, We Got You
Thursday Jan 27, 2022
Thursday Jan 27, 2022
I've wanted to do an episode on anxiety for while, partly because more people have been experiencing high levels of anxiety since the COVID-19 pandemic began. And also to get a better understanding of hormonal and lifestyle changes that have brought on anxiety in my own life.
In this episode I speak to Dr. Nirja Joshi about spotting signs of anxiety in others and ourselves. Shallow breathing, digestive problems and restlessness are a few but it's not always obvious and it's shocking to learn how prolonged anxiety affects our entire wellbeing.
We discuss talking to teens about their mental health, natural techniques to reduce anxiety, where you can turn to for help, and when we might need medication.

It's the 100th episode! (cue air horns!)
This episode is a celebration of all the varied, inspirational and entertaining guests and conversations that I’ve had on this podcast.
I share my journey so far from my MummyImperfect blogging days till now, I pull some stuff out of the podcast archives (anyone remember series 1 when I used to include comedy sketches?!), and play you a few of my best bits.
From making pussy magnets, a bit of spoken word, birthing babies, being a boss lady, and revealing whether or not I've had "work done".....it's just a regular episode of The Sisterhood of MummyImperfect really!
Keeping it 100 as always!

You're going to want to hear this, save it somewhere, and listen again....and feel free to take notes!

S2, Ep 96: Me And Sweet Bobby - Part 1
Thursday Dec 09, 2021
Thursday Dec 09, 2021
You may have already heard the popular podcast Sweet Bobby.
It's about a very complex and disturbing experience that happened to someone I've known for nearly twenty five years - my friend and regular panellist on this podcast, Kirat.
This episode is the first of two parts and in it Kirat talks about how she came to be the victim of one of the most complicated cat-fishing cases ever known. She reveals her mental and emotional state during her relationship with a man named "Bobby", the events that lead to her stepping away from it, and finding out the truth about who she'd been talking to online for almost a decade.

S2, Ep 95: Toxic Relationships
Thursday Dec 02, 2021
Thursday Dec 02, 2021
You may have listened to a podcast called Sweet Bobby, it's produced by a company called Tortoise Media and is about an experience that my friend, and podcast regular, Kirat went through.
In this episode I'm joined by Psychologist Mamta Saha, and we discuss some of the very serious and complex themes that the podcast and Kirat’s experience brought to light - toxic relationships, coercive control and emotional abuse.
Mamta talks about how to spot the signs - love-bombing, gaslighting - and how to rebuild your confidence and trust after coming out of an abusive relationship.
