Thursday Nov 26, 2020
Thursday Nov 26, 2020
Like me you're probably familiar with the term "fast fashion" and can appreciate how it makes shopping for clothes more affordable.
But are we aware of the impact that fast fashion has on the planet?
My guest this episode is Sukhina Garcia, fashion designer and creator of the brand Betty Brown, where style meets sustainability. She shares some shocking statistics about the devastating impact that the textile industry has on the environment and people's well being.
We discuss ways in which we can tweak our lifestyles, dress better, and shop better, while saving the world!

S2, Ep 43: Passing On Culture
Thursday Nov 19, 2020
Thursday Nov 19, 2020
If you're a parent do you ever worry that your kids are getting a bit "washed out"? Would they rather eat fish fingers and chips than roti and daal? Can they speak their mother-tongue? and have they ever been “back home”?
And are we making life harder for ourselves by even worrying about all this? After all we live in the UK and should just adopt British culture right?
I'm joined by my homie Rummy, and we share whether we're choosing to pass on our culture on pass on it!
We also hear from British-Ghanian Mercy and speak to Sunita Shah, the creator behind The Jai Jais, a collection of books that teach kids about Hinduism.

S2, Ep 42: Are You Getting Enough of Good Enough?
Thursday Nov 12, 2020
Thursday Nov 12, 2020
Our relationship with food is a complicated one. We need it to live, sometimes we don't have enough of it, sometimes we have too much of it. Food is a comfort, it's a part of rituals and culture and whether you're a foodie or not there is no denying that it makes us who we are....literally!
But how much food do we actually need in a day? What impact does what we eat have on our mood and our bodies? and can we train ourselves to eat healthier without feeling deprived?
My guest this episode is food and behaviour coach Ravneet (Neet Nutrition). She shares her theories on mindful eating, getting enough of good enough, what to eat for a smoother menopause, and loving our bodies regardless of what shape we are.

S2, Ep 41: Let's Talk Female Hair Loss
Thursday Nov 05, 2020
Thursday Nov 05, 2020
Hair has always been, and still is, a symbol of sexuality for women. Collectively we spend a ridiculous amount of money on our hair, and the quest for fuller, thicker hair is seemingly never ending. It’s no surprise then that no one really talks about female hair loss!
As someone who has experienced thinning hair, due to having children and getting older, I'm very aware of the emotional impact that hair loss has on women.
In this episode I speak to Dr Henna Anwar about the different reasons that women experience hair loss and what can be done about it.
I also hear from Victoria (@alopecianbabe). She shares her 10 year journey with Alopecia.

S2, Ep 38: Sexism and Misogyny in Bollywood
Saturday Oct 17, 2020
Saturday Oct 17, 2020
I grew up watching Bollywood movies in the 80s and 90s. For those of you who are familiar with India cinema from that era you'll know that rape scenes were commonplace and love scenes were not.
India recorded 88 rape cases every day in 2019, and that's just the ones that were reported. Deep-rooted patriarchy has created a second class status for women in South Asia.
Does the way that Bollywood depicts women contribute to that problem or is India's film industry simply a reflection of its society?
And are things changing with the new wave of female centric films?
Have a listen to my take on this and let me know your thoughts too.

S2, Ep 37: Happily Ever After?
Wednesday Oct 07, 2020
Wednesday Oct 07, 2020
"And then they got married and lived happily ever after"....is how most fairytales end.
But getting married is just the beginning, and is it realistic to expect every day of your marriage to be filled with hearts and roses? Particularly as around 42% of marriages in England and Wales end in divorce!
My guest this episode is mother, teacher and blogger, Manraj Sanghera (AKA Northern Bindi) who was 22 years old when she had an arranged marriage. We discuss arranged and love marriages, the highs and lows married life, and we bust some commonly heard marriage myths...."always resolve an argument before you go to bed" No thanks! Zzzzzzzzzzzz...
Is it possible to live happily ever after in wedded bliss? or is marriage just damn hard work? Listen in and let me know what you think.

S2, Ep 36: Sleep Tips For You And Your Kids
Thursday Oct 01, 2020
Thursday Oct 01, 2020
Are you a parent or carer? Remember when you took 8 hours sleep for granted and your alarm wasn't a little person going "Mummy, mummy, mummy" at 5am?...LOLZ!
If bedtimes are the stuff of nightmares in your household then I might be able to help.
In this episode I speak to Catherine Powell, a Health Visitor with years of sleep management experience with children and their families. She gives her top tips on how you and your kids can get a better quality sleep. We talk about how much sleep children should be getting, dealing with night terrors, and the pros and cons of co-sleeping.
Have a listen....your under eye circles will thank you!

S2, Ep 35: Feminist Icons
Thursday Sep 24, 2020
Thursday Sep 24, 2020
WARNING: Contains high levels of fierce feminine energy!
Last week US Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg passed away at the age of 87.
Affectionately known as Notorious RBG, she was widely regarded as a badass icon!
So in this week’s episode my guest Harkirat Assi and I discuss feminist icons.
We touch on what feminism mean to us, what makes an icon, and which fierce females inspire us.
From Malala Yousafzai to Marilyn Monroe, the Sisterhood give us their views on which boss ladies they admire.
