S2, Ep 64: The Power Hour
Thursday Apr 29, 2021
Thursday Apr 29, 2021
It's the last episode of the month so the Power Hour is back!
It's the hour (give or take a few mins!) where a panel of fabulous females power through the big news and entertainment stories from the last couple of weeks.
This week Rummy, Kirat and I discuss the covid crisis in India - what is happening over there and how it affects our families and friends. We talk about the Oscars - how relevant they still are and the films we want to watch - and we discuss how fame, reality TV and social media affect body image.

S2, Ep 63: Grey Is The New Black
Wednesday Apr 21, 2021
Wednesday Apr 21, 2021
My guest this episode is silver sister Huji Hayre. Being a bridal make up artist Huji is no stranger to traditional beauty stereotypes, but during lockdown last year she had a huge epiphany and decided to ditch the dye and embrace going grey.
Meanwhile I just made a salon appointment to colour my grey roots!
However, this episode is about so much more than whether or not women should just go grey gracefully. We discuss the pressure on women to look a certain way, how the beauty industry is fuelled by our insecurities, why women face more ageism than men, and what we love about getting older (and wiser!).

S2, Ep 62: Living With Cancer
Thursday Apr 15, 2021
Thursday Apr 15, 2021
My guest this episode is 49 year old mum of three and IT Consultant Bharti Dogra, who recently got diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time. This time it's incurable.
With humour and positivity, Bharti talks me through her journey with cancer - how she broke the news to her children, how knowing that her time is limited has impacted her life, and why she's choosing to share her experiences on social media.

S2, Ep 61: Sexuality Education
Thursday Apr 08, 2021
Thursday Apr 08, 2021
If your childhood was anything like mine, sex education was very basic and may have involved your geography teacher putting a condom on a cricket bat!
Thankfully now, things are changing and I'm joined by two of those game changers in this episode - Dolly Padalia from The School of Sexuality Education and Mindy (not her real name) author of the blog Brown Girl Dating.
We discuss South Asian attitudes towards sex, owning our own sexuality, slut-shaming, and smashing the patriarchy.

S2, Ep 60: The M Word
Thursday Apr 01, 2021
Thursday Apr 01, 2021
Other than hot flushes and the end of periods, how much do we really know about the menopause?
In this episode my guests Career Coach Manjeet and Make Up Artist Veena lift the lid on what is mysteriously known as "the change" or The M Word.
They talk honestly and openly about hormonal changes and the effect on their emotions and relationships, the psychological effects of the menopause, and the case for and against HRT.

S2, Ep 58: Meet The Relationship Coach
Wednesday Mar 17, 2021
Wednesday Mar 17, 2021
This episode was supposed to be about infidelity – why people cheat and whether a relationship can ever really recover from that - but it ended up being about so much more.
What it takes to make a marriage/relationship work, what to do when things go wrong, how to rebuild relationships, and how the relationship with yourself comes first.....just a few things that my guest Gurjit Rana and I ended up talking about.
Gurjit also opened up about her own journey, from going through a divorce to becoming a Relationship Coach.

S2, Ep 57: Let's Talk Periods
Wednesday Mar 10, 2021
Wednesday Mar 10, 2021
Menstruation is the most natural thing in the world, yet it's surrounded by social stigmas and shame. There's also a huge disparity in the availability of period products for women.
In the UK alone, the number of women and girls facing period poverty has risen sharply during the coronavirus lockdown.
I'm joined by Rupinder Virdee and Manjit K Gill from the charity Binti Period, and we discuss it all - our first periods, the way menstruation is shown in mainstream TV, educating girls about why they bleed, breaking down myths, and the environmental impact of period products.
Because every girl deserves dignity. Period.

S2, Ep 56: Know Your Roots To Know Yourself
Thursday Mar 04, 2021
Thursday Mar 04, 2021
How important are roots and heritage? Does knowing where you came from affect the way you see yourself?
I speak to writer, lawyer, and winner of Stormzy's #Merky Books New Writers' Prize, Hafsa Zayyan.
She tells me about her debut novel 'We Are All Birds of Uganda', a story that explores racial tensions and generational divides, how growing up with a Pakistani mother and a Nigerian father shaped her identity, and what it means to belong.
